About Harriet Sophie Wright
Harriet Beans mixed media pieces draw
inspiration from local landscapes in North Yorkshire, where she has
grown up, studied and continues her practice. Her images aim to
capture the linear presence of stature in contrast with trace like
fragility, depicted through her range of materials and process of
mark making.
Her images are a fabrication of layers,
demonstrating love of natural materials, constantly exploring methods
and pushing media with which she works. This method of layering also
links to Harriets thought process, as she gets lost in the media,
interpreting her experience of surroundings. This is evident in her
layering as she examines the role and relationship between artist,
artwork and audience. Layers of time, culture and personal experience
mirroring the layered textures of her subjects and outcomes.
